New educational air pollution website launched today by AEA in partnership with the Scottish Government

Since this article was published, AEA Technology plc’s business, operating assets and employees were acquired on the 8 November 2012 by Ricardo plc and transferred to a new subsidiary, Ricardo-AEA Ltd. All employees were transferred to Ricardo-AEA Ltd as part of the acquisition and remain available for the execution of all projects via the new company, as are the entire capability and resources previously represented by AEA Technology plc. All individuals remained at previous locations with all offices being retained.

In partnership with the Scottish Government and GLOW, Scotland's online education community, AEA Technology plc has created a new educational website to help children aged between 8 and 11 years old to understand the causes and effects of air pollution.

The website features two characters - Maggie and Rabbie, the Air Pollution detectives -  who take the children on an interactive and engaging journey to investigate what makes their air polluted. The attractively designed site features downloadable worksheets to continue learning offline, links to related websites, sound effects, audio ‘read-a- along' webpages and quizzes.

Scottish school children were integral to the development of the site; helping choose character names and also providing the voices for the audio throughout.

The children's website enhances the wider Air Quality Scotland website (www.scottishairquality.co.uk) developed and maintained by AEA on behalf of the Scottish Government.
